Jan Broeckx is was born in Belgium and studied at the internationally renowned Royal Ballet School of Antwerp, based on the Vaganova system. At age 17, he won the Prix de Lausanne, going on to perform as a principal dancer with Ballet of Flanders, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Bavarian State Ballet in Munich. Mr. Broeckx worked with such renowned choreographers as Rudolf Nureyev, George Balanchine, John Cranko, Hans van Manen, Jiri Kylian and Roland Petit, together with whom Mr. Broeckx founded “”Ecole Nationale Superieure de Danse Marseille.”” In 2010, Mr Broeckx took over the directorship at the Ballet Academy of the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Mr. Broeckx is frequently invited as a guest ballet master to renowned companies including La Scala and the Zurich Opera House, and as a member of the jury for international ballet competitions like YAGP and Prix de Lausanne.
