Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Former Principal with Pacific Northwest Ballet & Professor of Ballet
Carla Körbes began her ballet training at Ballet Vera Bublitz in her home town of Porto Alegre, Brazil and continued her studies at the School of American Ballet. In 1999, she received the Mae. L. Wien Award and was subsequently invited to join New York City Ballet, where she was named the Janice Levin Dancer Honoree and later became a soloist. In 2005, Ms. Körbes joined Pacific Northwest Ballet and was soon promoted to Principal Dancer, performing the full company repertoire and originating many new roles. In 2017, Ms. Körbes was named Associate Professor of Ballet at Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. She continues to appear internationally as a Guest Artist and a Guest Master Teacher.
