Charles Askegard began his dance training at the age of five at the Minnesota Dance Theatre and continued his training at the School of American Ballet. In 1987, he was invited by Mikhail Baryshnikov to join ABT, where he performed for ten years. Following his tenure with American Ballet Theatre, Mr. Askegard joined New York City Ballet as a Principal Dancer, remaining with the company for 14 years. He later co-founded “Ballet Next” with fellow ABT dancer Michelle Wiles, where he choreographed, performed and served as the company’s Artistic Director. He currently serves as Ballet Master of Pennsylvania Ballet.
