Diana White began to dance professionally at age 14 with the Lyric Opera Ballet of Chicago under the direction of Maria Tallchief. There she was seen by George Balanchine, who awarded her a scholarship to the School of American Ballet. He invited her to join the New York City Ballet one year later. During her 20-year career, she worked closely with Balanchine and Jerome Robbins, touring extensively. Since retiring from the stage, Ms. White has taught at schools and universities in the US and abroad including at the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College and UNCSA, and is the founding Artistic Director of the Scarsdale Ballet Studio. She is a Repetiteur for the George Balanchine Trust and the Robbins Rights Trust, staging ballets on professional companies and conservatories worldwide.
