American Ballet Theatre, Former Principal Dancer

Irina Dvorovenko began her ballet training at the Kiev Ballet School in her native Ukraine, at the age of ten. She joined the National Opera Ballet of Kiev in 1990 as a soloist, becoming a principal dancer in 1992. Ms. Dvorovenko joined the American Ballet Theatre in 1996, and was named principal dancer in 2000. Renowned for both her musicality, dazzling technique, and a diverse repertoire, she has danced with companies around the world, touring internationally appearing on television and in magazines. After retiring from the stage. Ms. Dvorovenko focused on her acting career, performing to critical acclaim in ON YOUR TOES (City Center Encores!) and featured among the cast of the TV series “Flesh and Bone” (Starz) “Power” (Starz) and “The Americans” (FX) among others. In March she returned to Encores! as fading ballerina Elizaveta Grushinskaya in GRAND HOTEL.
