Kara Genevieve Cooper (Corps de ballet) was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She received her training from Alla Sizova, Nikolai Morozov, and Vladimir Djouloukhadze at the Kirov Academy of Ballet where she was a resident student for four years as well as the Washington School of Ballet, both in Washington, D.C. In 2000, Kara was awarded the Silver Medal at the Youth America Grand Prix Nationals in NYC. She joined the Washington Ballet three years later at age 17 under the mentorship of Dawei Zhang. She has appeared in Serenade, The Unanswered Question, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Valse Fantaisie, Who Cares?, Scotch Symphony, Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto, Septime Webre’s Carmina Burana,and Romeo & Juliet to name a few. Kara joined The Suzanne Farrell Ballet in 2007. She performed with Cincinnati Ballet from 2008-2010. When Kara is not performing onstage she is at home with her toddler, Isabella.
