Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet, Head of Pre-Professional Program
Karin Ellis-Wentz began her training at the Marin Ballet School, San Rafael, CA. A two-time semifinalist in the Prix de Lausanne, she was offered a scholarship to the Heinz Bosl Stiftung in Munich, Germany. Ms. Ellis-Wentz danced with Atlanta Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Boston Ballet and American Ballet Theatre, where she performed for 11 years. Ms. Ellis-Wentz is an ABT® Certified Teacher, having successfully completed all levels of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. She is also a certified Stott Pilates® instructor. After retiring from the stage, she taught in various programs, including the ABT® Summer Intensive in New York City. Ms. Ellis-Wentz joined the Joffrey Academy faculty in 2013, and was promoted to Head of Pre-Professional Programs in 2016.
