Patrick Armand won the Prix de Lausanne in 1980, going on to win many other prestigious awards, and to study at the School of American Ballet and at The Centre de Danse international Rosella Hightower in Cannes. He joined the Ballet Theatre Francais de Nancy in 1981, also dancing at the London Festival Ballet (now English National Ballet) and Boston Ballet. Since retiring from the stage, Mr. Armand taught extensively at schools and companies in Europe, Japan and North America. He returned to Prix de Lausanne several times as a jury member since 1998. He was a faculty member and ballet master at Teatro alla Scala in Milano until 2010, when he became Principal of the San Francisco Ballet School Trainee program, also teaching in the main company, and in 2012 Mr. Armand was appointed Associate Director of the San Francisco Ballet School.
