Sasha Janes completed his training at the Australian Ballet School and performed with West Australian Ballet, Australian Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet, Dayton Ballet and Chautauqua Festival Ballet. He joined Charlotte Ballet as a principal dancer in 2003, and served as dance captain, rehearsal director, and ballet master at the company. Since 2006, Mr. Janes has choreographed more than 25 ballets for Charlotte Ballet. In 2012, after a 23-year career without missing a performance, Mr. Janes retired from the stage, becoming artistic director and resident choreographer at Charlotte Ballet, and joining the faculty of the University of Indiana Jacobs School of Music.
