Stephanie Saland entered The School of American Ballet just before her 15th birthday, and upon graduation was personally invited by George Balanchine to join the New York City Ballet for the Stravinsky Festival. During her celebrated career as a Principal Dancer with the company, she danced leading roles under Balanchine’s direction, as well as principal roles in Jerome Robbins’ repertoire. Ms. Saland performed as part of Nureyev and Friends, and numerous Live From Lincoln Center and Dance in America films. Known for her unique and nurturing approach to teaching, Ms. Saland has been in high demand as a teacher throughout North and South America and in Europe.
