Chisako Oga trained at San Francisco Ballet School on a full scholarship received at Prix de Lausanne International Ballet Competition. She was promoted to San Francisco Ballet School trainee in 2015 and was named a San Francisco Ballet company apprentice the following year before joining Cincinnati Ballet for the 2016-2017 Season. At San Francisco ballet, she has danced in Helgi Tomasson’s Giselle (Wilis), Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote (Driads), and Makarova’s (after Petipa) The Kingdom of the Shades from La Bayadère, Act II, Liam Scarlett’s Fearful Symmetries, to name a few. As a San Francisco Ballet School student and trainee, she danced in Tomasson’s Bartók Divertimento, Balanchine’s Raymonda Variations (principal), Vainonen’s Flames of Paris (pas de deux) and Welch’s Brigade. She has received many awards at Youth America Grand Prix, including being a top 20 finalist at the New York City Finals during which she performed at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. She has appeared in galas such as Anaheim International Dance Festival Gala of the Stars and the Miami International Ballet Festival Gala. In 2016, she participated in the Shanghai International Ballet Competition among select dancers from all over the world and received a Silver medal. Oga was promoted to Soloist in September 2016 and Principal for the 2017-2018 Season.
