The YAGP 2017 Gala marked the first time that Youth America Grand Prix presented a Lifetime Achievement Award. Instituted as part of YAGP’s educational mission to inform and inspire the next generation of young artists, the YAGP Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes legendary figures in dance who have left an indelible mark on the art form. The inaugural recipient of YAGP Lifetime Achievement Award was Mr. Bruce Marks, a legendary American dancer, Artistic Director and Educator – who also celebrated his 80th birthday the same year. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Mr. Marks on stage during the Gala by Ms. Nina Ananiashvili, Bolshoi Ballet and American Ballet Theatre Principal, who currently serves at the Artistic Director of the State Ballet of Georgia.
