Garrett Smith was born in Salt Lake City, trained with the Utah Regional Ballet and with the Houston Ballet Academy. He performed at the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony, earning a national title for his choreography for the NYCDA Dance Convention in 2003 and 2005, and was named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts. He has created works for Houston Ballet II, Ballet West and New York City Ballet, among others, and joined Norwegian National Ballet in 2012. Mr. Smith received the YAGP 2016 “Outstanding Choreographer” award, getting an opportunity to create works for the Mariinsky Ballet, and the Bolshoi Ballet.
