Gonzalo Garcia was born in Zaragoza, Spain, and began studying ballet at Maria Avila’s school. After attending a summer session at the San Francisco Ballet School in 1995, Mr. Garcia became the youngest dancer to receive a gold medal at the Prix de Lausanne. Garcia joined the corps de ballet at the San Francisco Ballet in March 1998 and was promoted to principal dancer in 2002. Mr. Garcia later joined New York City Ballet in 2007 as a principal dancer, and he currently performs lead roles across the company repertoire.
